L.A.M. Chop
Low Altitude Mapping Chopper - "L.A.M. Chop"
L.A.M. Chop is a large scale remote controlled helicopter outfitted with a high resolution digital camera. The camera is mounted on a robotic gimble which is controlled by a second operator on the ground. The live digital image is transmitted to the ground and displayed on a television monitor in real time. This real time image allows the operator to frame and photograph the intended image. L.A.M. Chop can operate from a few feet above the ground to 700 feet in altitude. It is capable of taking orthographic photos (straight down) or low oblique photos which include the subject and horizon. L.A.M. Chop can also be outfitted with an IPIX 360 degree immersion camera. This camera creates a 360 degree panoramic view for publishing to the web. L.A.M. Chop can also be outfitted with a very high resolution DVD Camcorder to create aerial videography. Altitude can be precisely controlled by a laser which allows precise "view" photographs to be acquired.
